Now,
to succeed, he must magically make a fifth card appear. When he lifts the ace
from the table, another card has appeared; however, it is smaller in size than
the other cards! Being smaller doesn't help his cause. Neither does the fact
that when it is turned over, it is a miniature ten of hearts! It's back to the
drawing board for the apprentice. Cute, easy to do and great walk-around magic
with a topical Merlin theme.
This effect comes with Ron's patter routine
about Merlin the magician instructing his apprentice, Merli. It also has Ron's
trademark of multiple surprises. The basic routine has the magician holding
three of the same cards (ten of Hearts) and one indifferent card (the ace of
clubs).
Apparently, our aspiring apprentice has changed three aces into
matching tens. His goal is to change the last ace into a ten in order to become
the next Merlin. After failing a couple of times, he places the ace on the
table.
He tries to turn one of the tens back to an ace again, but it
turns into a king. Then he turns the other two tens into a queen and a jack. He
now has a possible straight flush in clubs.
